What are we looking for:
We are looking for a colleague with a strong background in photonics (ideally geometrical optics and ultrafast lasers), biophotonic and biology with a strong focus on microscope technology and development to join our team.
How will you make an impact in our team?
As an Microscopy Application Scientist, you will work closely with specialists in leading national and international research institutions and forward-looking technology pioneers in the academic and industrial environment to ensure maximum success for our customers in the effective use of their instruments. Developing and implementing cutting edge microscopy techniques like coherent Raman imaging, structured illumination microscopy, FLIM, photoacoustic microscopy, etc. into new or our existing products, therefore expanding their wider use and opening new applications, will also be an important task. Working on national, as well as international EU projects will complement the daily “routine”.
You will also lead our contract imaging service efforts, that provides optical imaging services to industry and academia, utilizing our in-house 3D optical imaging equipment (mesoSPIM light sheet, multiphoton microscopes equipped with widefield, FLIM, CRS capabilities).
In addition, you will present our products at exhibitions and conferences, and you will be responsible for advanced customer trainings (on-site and remote). Therefore, the position requires good communication skills, a willingness to travel internationally and fluent English.
- Developing new microscopy techniques and making them “industry-ready”.
- Perform product demonstrations, workshops, sample analysis, and data processing (remote and on site)
- Customer support and training (remote and on site)
- Translate new technologies and applications into articles, manuals and application notes
- Final microscopes acceptance and support of the installation at the customer’s site
- Provide user-feedback in cross-functional teams to R&D and Product Management
How will you get there?
- An advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in a relevant area.
- Experience with Light-Microscopy and applications (academia or industry).
- Hands on experience in imaging optics and laser beam alignment, geometrical optics, ultrafast laser handling.
- Data management and coding skills in Matlab and/or Python.
- Skills about sample preparation, wet-bench protocols and cell biology is beneficial.
- Proven ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Confident, determined, and people-oriented personality.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Effective communication skills and fluent in English.
- Willingness to travel (20-30 %) both domestic and international.
