Our Centre for Biological Sciences, Department of Biological Sciences and
Pathobiology, is looking for an
University Assistant (Pre-Doc)
PhD-student in the field of membrane/protein
biophysics
Grade: B1 Pre-Doc
Level of employment: 30 hours per week
Duration of contract: limited to 3 years*

Responsibilities and tasks
 Independent research activities in the field of mitochondrial uncoupler proteins
 Collaboration in research projects as well as in teaching, organizational and
administrative tasks
 Participation in academic teaching in accordance with the collective agreement, as well
as participation in taking examinations, including the supervision of students
Necessary education, qualifications and knowledge on taking up employment
 Completed studies in (bio)physics, (bio)chemistry, bioengineering, nanotechnology or
molecular biology (diploma, bachelor’s or master’s degree with 300 ECTS)
 Good knowledge of English (B2)
Desirable qualifications and skills
 Experience with the production of recombinant membrane proteins and techniques for
their characterization
 Experience with silver staining and western blot
 Good presentation skills

Minimum salary
The minimum salaries at universities are governed by a collective bargaining agreement. At
the level given above, the minimum salary amounts to EUR 3,714.80 gross per month
(based on full-time employment).
